Europe's East - Hidden treasures for small budgets

Europe's East - Hidden treasures for small budgets

Exploring Europe is about so much more than simply snapping a selfie in front of the Eiffel Tower. Such a marvellous continent is Europe that it’s begging to be explored from all corners. While the western side, where you’ll find France, Italy, and more, is heavily favoured by international travellers, there are plenty of incredible experiences to be had in Eastern Europe, especially for those out for more bang for their buck!

Budapest

The grandiose Hungarian capital is one of the most majestic cities in all of Europe. Strap on your comfy shoes and plan for a walking tour around the city. It’s the best way to take in the stunning architecture, dating back to the 19th Century.

The bridges of the Danube River are a sight to see, and can be taken in up close on the way to Parliament. A lavish architectural marvel, the enormous building blends design styles, and is open for tours most times around the year.

The Urals

Far to the east, the Ural Mountains are a European gem. The mountains offer visitors a plethora of diverse experiences, including hiking the snowy peaks, ice fishing, exploring caves, and plenty more.

The mountains are best accessed by flying into Yekaterinburg, in Russia. From there, you can head out and take a tour, or go on a self-guided mountain adventure.

Bulgarian Beaches

Bulgaria may not be the first destination on a beach-goer’s travel list, but it should be among them. Set on the pristine Black Sea, Bulgaria boasts world-class beaches with crystal-clear waters and fine sands.

Golden Sands beach is one of the best among them, with shimmering sand and rows of cabana chairs to laze about in, and not do too much else. Plus, it’s possible to plan quite a cost-effective trip, as Bulgaria is known to be less expensive than other European beach destinations.
