The capital city of New Zealand, Wellington is an often under appreciated gem of the southern hemisphere. Situated on the pristine Wellington Harbour, there is much to explore in the city.
To begin, see this city from above in magnificent panorama from Mount Victoria. An eminently Instagrammable attraction, the Mount Victoria Lookout is a must-see for every visitor to the city.
Back down below, Zealandia is a sanctuary on the outskirts of the city. The valley boasts some wildlife rarely seen around the world, including the Takahe, a bird species of which there are only 250 left. For more up-close time with animals, visit the wonderful Wellington Zoo.
Movie buffs will also love the Weta Cave, a mini-museum dedicated to the work of the Weta Workshop. Their claim to fame is the work of Peter Jackson, including The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit trilogies, and the epic King Kong.
