Travellers Choice top cruise ships

27 Apr 2017 Angela Matthews Ocean Cruise, Travel Tips

Whether you are a regular cruise-goer, or are yet to experience a cruise holiday, Travellers Choice agents can help you find a cruise that meets all of your needs. If you’re not sure where to start with choosing a cruise, we hope that our run-down of our favourite cruise ships will help!

Ovation of the Seas, Royal Caribbean

Royal Caribbean calls it super-cruising, and there is no denying that a holiday onboard Ovation of the Seas would be super! The mega-ship is 348m in length and at maximum occupancy will hold 4,905 passengers.

Our two favourite features of this ship are the North Star and the Bionic Bar. The North Star is an observation capsule which offers passengers 360° views, 90 metres up in the air. We recommend booking your place before boarding so you don’t miss out on this experience. The Bionic Bar is the home of robotic barmen, who mix up your favourite drink almost immediately. You’ll be fascinated by the laser precision and speed, plus, you’ll receive a delicious beverage too!

Scenic Eclipse, Scenic

This ship may not have set sail yet, but we are in love with it already! Scenic, the people who specialise in luxury river-cruising and touring, are now going to be the go-to company for ultra-luxury expedition cruising.

Scenic Eclipse will embark on her maiden voyage in 2018 and will sail around the world, including to Antarctica. It will be 168 metres in length and will transport a maximum of 228 passengers in 6-star comfort. It’s difficult to say which part of the ship we like the sound of the most, but the spa looks incredible, as do the numerous bars, cafes and restaurants. Did we mention there is a helipad onboard for the Scenic helicopter?

Queen Elizabeth, Cunard

Queen Elizabeth is the newest of the Cunard Line ships, but she carries on the rich heritage that Cunard are recognised for. Sailing out of Southampton in the UK, Queen Elizabeth is the perfect ship to explore Europe, North America and beyond.

Our favourite itinerary with this ocean liner is her 122-night round the world cruise. Visit New York, Aruba, Bora Bora, Brisbane, Shanghai, Penang, Cape Town and many more destinations along the way. Onboard, passengers can enjoy The Royal Spa or Games Deck, or relax in one of the many restaurants, bars or lounges, all whilst receiving the famous Cunard service from the crew.

Celebrity Edge, Celebrity Cruises

This is another ship that it is not yet sailing, but we can’t wait for it to launch. Celebrity Edge is the revolutionary new ship from Celebrity Cruises.

The feature of this luxury ship we are most excited about, is the Magic Carpet. This cantilevered, floating platform is attached to the side of the ship, and can move up and down, reaching heights of 13 stories above sea-level, offering passengers spectacular views, and an experience no other cruise ship offers.

Celebrity Edge will set sail for the Caribbean in December 2018.

Regal Princess, Princess Cruises

Regal Princess sails in North America, the Caribbean and Europe, and features a glass-floor walkway, which extends over 8.5 metres beyond the ship. The ship will debut Princess Cruises’ Ocean Medallion™ from November 2017, offering guests personalised service like never before.

Whilst onboard, guests can take advantage of a myriad of entertainment options including the Watercolor Fantasy Show, or a movie under the stars, and there are dining options for even the fussiest of eaters, including Crafted by Curtis Stone. Regal Princess has 1,780 guest cabins and over 1,400 balconies, so guests can enjoy the ocean views.
