Considered one of the best holiday destinations in South East Asia, Hong Kong offers the best of culture, shopping, dining and excitement. A holiday in Hong Kong is sure to get the heart racing.
The first port of call for any visitor to Hong Kong – no matter what age - should be Disneyland. Featuring six themed areas, more than enough attractions, and all your favourite Disney characters – there’s something to inspire joy in everyone.
Capture the quintessential Hong Kong snap from Victoria Peak. The staggering views of the city offer everything from harbour and skyline to lush mountains. Local’s tip: head up to the Peak just before sundown to watch the transition from beautiful dusk to brilliant city lights.
Symphony of Lights
Along Victoria Harbour you’ll find Avenue of Stars, a dazzling promenade paying tribute to Hong Kong’s movie greats. It has splendid views of the harbour and many dining options on restaurant boats. Around Christmas there is also a special Symphony of Lights display along the shore accompanied by music and storytelling over loudspeakers. To really take it all in, jump on a Star Ferry across Victoria Harbour (from Hong Kong Island to Kowloon Peninsula) – only a quick 7 minute ride.
During the holidays, the Hong Kong Ballet stages The Nutcracker in all its fairy-tale and yuletide glory, while the Hong Kong Philharmonic presents a selection of carols and traditional Chinese songs.
Shop Up A Storm
Where to begin! Shopping in Hong Kong is like no other. For trinkets and knick-knacks set against an authentic backdrop (you might recognise it from some movies!) head to Temple Street Night Market. For souvenirs, accessories, bargain clothing, street food and just about anything really, head to Ladies’ Market on Tung Choi Street.
Are you feeling the holiday spirit now? If you’re set on a holiday in South East Asia, make sure Hong Kong is number one on your list of destinations!
